Cacao powder.Cacao isn’t cocoa. Cocoa is what you’d find in normal chocolate and it’s the cacao bean that’s been very heavily heated and processed so all of the goodness is taken out. So this is why it’s much better to use cacao.

Cacao contains more than flavonoids; it provides minerals like magnesium which helps neutralize free radicals (harmful molecules), thus preventing premature aging caused by oxidative stress . This means higher quality cacao products may offer you longer life spans with improved physical performance. Cacao is an anti oxidant, full of fiber and magnesium and is a natural mood booster.

Coconut Oil. Coconut oil is a super food and in fact it can even help you lose weight. Coconut oil can help improve your skin’s elasticity and prevent sagging. It can also help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Coconut oil is a natural antibacterial, so it can help to keep your skin clear and blemish-free.

Coconut oil is full of good fats, low in carbs and rich in antioxidants

Almond Butter. Almond butter is a great addition to your diet if you’re looking for some delicious and nutritious snacks. Almonds have been shown time after time as being among the most nutrient-dense food sources on earth! They contain over 20 different vitamins including Vitamin E, which helps keep skin healthy from head down. They are also a prebiotic which means they are good for your gut and studies have shown almonds can actually help reduce wrinkles

Maple Syrup. Maple syrup has many benefits, including the ability to help control blood sugar levels. With its high natural sugars and insulin resistance properties made from pure maple sap we’re able offer an alternative solution for people looking around other alternatives in their quest towards better health!

Collagen Powder. Collagen powder is a great anti-aging supplement for anyone who wants to give their skin and hair an instant boost. It will help promote hair growth and make your skin plump and youthful looking plus encourage heath muscle mass as we age.

With these 5 simple ingredients, you can make a delicious and healthful chocolate treat. So, keep reading to learn how to make your own healthy chocolate bars at home.

  7. I’m confused. In the Notes it says, “NO STEVIA POWDER: Use liquid stevia drops, monk fruit sweetener drops or other powdered sugar alternative (not granulated) to taste”. But I don’t see Stevia Powder listed in the ingredient list. Is Stevia Powder supposed to be listed as an ingredient and, if so, how much?

FAQs

Is sugar-free chocolate actually healthy? ›

While sugar requires more time to metabolise and can be converted into fat by your body, eating chocolates free of sugar will not only help reduce weight but also work against inflammation and improve your circulation.

What replaces sugar in sugar-free chocolate? ›

Artificial sweeteners

The more commonly known sugar substitutes fall into three main categories: aspartame (Equal), saccharin (Sweet'N Low) and sucralose (Splenda). These are zero-calorie sweeteners and are many times sweeter than table sugar.

Can diabetics eat sugar-free chocolate? ›

There is no specific "diabetic chocolate," but "sugar-free chocolate" usually refers to chocolate that has been sweetened with calorie-free or low-calorie sugar substitutes. These substitutes are usually safe for diabetes, since they have no effect on blood sugar.

Can we eat sugar-free chocolate during weight loss? ›

As mentioned, sugar-free chocolate is typically lower in calories than regular chocolate. Consuming fewer calories can help support weight loss efforts. In addition, some studies have found that xylitol, a common sugar substitute used in sugar-free chocolate, may have a slight appetite-suppressing effect.

What happens if you eat too much sugar-free chocolate? ›

Some people have reported that the Maltitol in sugar free chocolate can cause laxative effects - and this is true - but only when consumed in large quantities of over 100g per day (which arguably isn't healthy, no matter what type of chocolate is it).

Is Hershey's sugar-free chocolate actually sugar-free? ›

As you may have guessed, our Zero Sugar products don't contain any sugar.

What is the healthiest chocolate for diabetics? ›

Dark chocolate contains polyphenols, which are naturally occurring compounds that have antioxidant properties (which protect the body from damage caused by harmful molecules). Polyphenols in dark chocolate may improve insulin sensitivity, or how well insulin works in the body.

What does maltitol do to your body? ›

After eating maltitol, some people experience stomach pains and gas. It also can act similarly to a laxative and cause diarrhea. The severity of these side effects depends on how much of it you eat and how your body reacts to it. There aren't any other major health concerns with using maltitol or other sugar alcohols.

Is chocolate with stevia healthy? ›

Sweetened chocolate is no different from regular chocolate and also has a rich flavor. Stevia is much sweeter than regular sugar, so it can be difficult to tell the difference. Are such sweets useful? The sweetener does not contain chemicals harmful to the body and is completely safe for health.

What chocolate is good for type 2 diabetes? ›

Instead of 'diabetic' chocolate, try choosing good-quality dark chocolate (70% cocoa is best). It has a stronger taste than milk chocolate, so you are likely to eat a bit less. Decide how much you are going to eat and put the rest of the chocolate away, out of reach.

Is peanut butter good for diabetics? ›

Is peanut butter good for people with diabetes? In moderation, eating regular peanut butter (not low-fat) should be fine for people with diabetes. Low-fat peanut butter should be reduced or avoided. This is because the fat content of low-fat peanut butter can be replaced with sugar and result in more carbohydrates.

What is the healthiest chocolate to eat? ›

ZOE's Prof. Tim Spector recommends choosing products that are at least 70% cocoa and that contain less added sugar and no artificial additives. Even the best quality dark chocolate contains added sugar, so it's best to eat it in moderation.

What are the side effects of no sugar chocolate? ›

Sugar alcohols are digested very slowly in the intestine and are not fully absorbed into the blood. Therefore, they do not raise blood sugar the same way other carbohydrates do. Due to the slow digestion, they are fermented by the bacteria in the intestine and as a result can cause abdominal gas, bloating and diarrhea.

Are sugar-free chocolates really sugar-free? ›

Sugar-free chocolate is actually, pretty much like many sugar-free products, not really sugar free. See, there are lots of different “kinds” of sugar, presenting different sweetening power and differing in the way our bodies handle them.

Are sugar-free products really healthy? ›

A snack labeled low sugar or no sugar may not be the most nutritious choice. Whole foods, such as fruits and vegetables, usually have the best mix of nutrients for the body. But artificial sweeteners can help some people enjoy sweetness without excess calories.

Is it healthier to eat sugar-free candy? ›

Sugar-free means healthy. Fruits, vegetables, beans and whole grains are examples of healthy foods. Candy doesn't count as healthy, even if it is sugar-free. If you eat a lot of candy and aren't ready to cut back, however, switching to sugar-free candy may help you better control your carbohydrate intake.
